How did Hester come to feel about Pearl?

Thoughis a source of shame foras a living symbol of her sin, she comes to love her
daughter dearly. Estranged from the community and without family, Pearl is all Hester has.
Raising Pearl becomes Hester's big purpose in life since she no longer has a place among the
Puritans.

However, Pearl is a mischievous child, often causing her mother
grief. She is aggressive and does not always follow orders. She acts in a way the other Puritans
perceive as demonic, which almost causes her to be taken away from Hester, who the community
already feels is not fit for motherhood since she is an adulteress. She also insists upon her
mother...
